SAHM

Be nice to SAHMs, they are working the hardest job there is. We should have a lot more protections for them. Caring for children and a home is back breaking.

In 2011, Forbes estimated that the average SAHM worked 97 hours per week. I would argue that’s a gross underestimation because they also “work nights” for years on end. Women literally sacrifice gray matter in their brain for their children (lost during pregnancy).

They also estimated that SAHMs in 2011 should make 115k annually. With inflation, imagine what that number is now.

It appears that there is very little research on the well being and contributions of SAHMs. This is pretty disheartening. There are a lot of opinion pieces written about SAH mothers and fathers. We need to think of better ways to study the effects of motherhood on all mothers.
