Honestly, my kitchen is still dirty. I have no idea why it won’t get clean. I can’t wait to paint these white cabinets off white with a high gloss so I can wipe them down so easily. Cleaning is the fun part of OCD for me, the part that stinks is having intrusive thoughts that make you feel like a horrible person.
Remember thoughts don’t hurt people behaviors do. Sometimes we think or feel all kinds of weird stuff and that does not define us as a person and definitely does not define us as a mother!
As a mama, who struggled with postpartum OCD, I’m just not going to judge other moms for their intrusive thoughts. I know they get weird and dramatic and scary. Honestly, I like to try laughing at how ridiculously outrageous some of my intrusive thoughts can be.
It definitely helps me move on with my day and not get stuck on fearing that I have HIV from stepping in menstrual blood in a summer camp shower when I was 10 years old despite plenty of negative tests! Honestly, I think that stepping in the menstrual blood was just a little traumatic...
