This isn’t my opinion, this is the research. School pew pews are a phenomenon that you cannot set up a research study around so we do have to extrapolate data from similar phenomena. Most of these events end in unaliving oneself and so suicide prevention programs/research is probably our best bet at understanding and reducing this public health problem. There are evidence based ways to reduce unaliving oneself and related behaviors. These are:

Education of non psychiatrist healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating depression

Education of target high risk groups on prevention

Access to mental healthcare

Antidepressants

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical behavioral therapy (needs at least 20 sessions to reduce risk)

Means restriction: educate on pew pew safety, buy back programs, restrict ownership of pew pews, restrict access to lethal medications or pesticides, restrict access to CO

This is a preventable public health problem. Denmark specifically was able to reduce their unaliving rate dramatically through public health interventions as described above. Means restriction was one of the most helpful interventions.
