Is this what you look like mid panic attack too?
There is treatment. Antidepressants are actually first line. They were really poorly named because they treat depression, anxiety, panic, ocd, ptsd, and more. Antidepressants prevent the panic attacks from coming on for most people.
Don’t ignore panic attacks. People experience them more during stressful life periods, but not necessarily at the time of a stressful life event. This can be the most frustrating thing about panic. In fact, I commonly see panic attacks “come out” as the patient is exiting a stressful time period. I say it’s when they “finally have time to relax” that the panic can sneak out!
If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum, most of the treatment options of antidepressants should be available to you. Please please please don’t think you need to suffer in silence.
My go to phrase for panic: “panic attacks are more about how much stress you’ve been under in the last 30 days than the last 30 minutes.”
